Education and conservation

Every drain leads to the sea.

Whale Song will provide an exciting and immersive educational perspective during construction and as a finished work of art.

Its learning role includes Kāpiti’s whaling history, the near extinction and recovery of whales, marine conservation, plastic pollution, river health, wetlands, biodiversity and the duty to protect our oceans and their inhabitants.

  • Whale Song Activity Sheets for schools and families
  • Humpback whale anatomy, tubercles, flukes, baleen and migration facts
  • Kāpiti whaling history maps and classroom learning
  • Hands-on/tactile learning around Piripoho
  • Future app and AR-supported environmental storytelling
